Chris Forsey has been a professional painter for 12 years after pursuing a successful career as an illustrator. His main interests are in painting the landscape. He enjoys the pursuit and representation of fleeting light, atmosphere, weather and time of day and season in his work. He takes his inspiration mostly from coastal, countryside and architectural subjects. He works in acrylic, mixed media and watercolour, on paper and canvas, using unusual tools and techniques to produce textures of broken and glazed layers in his loose, representational paintings. He works quickly after careful planning of content, composition and colour and he hopes to exploit the serendipitous effects of water-based media to create exciting, spontaneous work. His work is shown in many galleries in England and Scotland, and he was voted a member of THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF PAINTERS IN WATERCOLOURS, the RI, in May 2010, and a member of THE SOCIETY OF GRAPHIC FINE ARTISTS, SGFA, in 2009.
